The creation of sculptures and objects comes from an 
intuition that gets activated by the type of clay I use. 
Groggy, rough but also smooth and sticky and endlessly forgiving, 
my hands will go their merry way. 
While listening to the radio, building an atmosphere of childlike naivety, 
time seems to disappear and sculptures and objects appear. 
Without much conscious intervening the shapes take inspiration 
from my mental library of foreign places and long hikes and snow and sunshine. 
If not from that library, it may be a need, a trinket thrifted many moons ago 
or an imagined place that needs a little something, guiding the way to the final form.
